|
|
1. Failure to follow all instructions
and limitations concerning the use of
the respirator and/or failure to wear
the respirator for the whole duration of
exposure to contaminants can seriously
reduce the performance characteristics
of the respirator and lead to illness,
injury or death. |
 |
|
2. Before occupational use, the wearer
must first be trained by the employer in
the correct use of the respirator in
accordance with applicable safety and
health standards. |
 |
|
3. OSHA
standards including 29CFR1910.134 (e) (5) and CSA
standard Z94.4-93 require that the wearer be fit-tested. |
 |
| 4.
Discard the respirator and replace with a new one if: |
|
● |
excessive clogging of the respirator causes
breathing difficulty; |
|
● |
the respirator becomes damaged. |
|
|
Discard the respirator and replace with a new one after
every use. |
 |
| 5. Leave
the contaminated area if dizziness, irritation or other
distress occurs. |
| |
|
USE LIMITATIONS |
 |
| 1. Do
NOT use the respirator or enter or stay in a
contaminated area under the following circumstances: |
|
● |
atmosphere contains less than 19.5% oxygen; |
|
● |
if you smell or taste a contaminant; |
|
● |
for protection against gases or vapors; |
|
● |
contaminants or their concentrations are
unknown or immediately dangerous to life or
health; |
|
● |
concentrations of contaminants exceed
maximum use concentrations in applicable
OSHA standards or applicable government
regulations or 10 times the PEL (Permissible
Exposure Limit), whichever is lower; |
|
● |
for sandblasting, paint-spray operations,
asbestos. |
|
 |
| 2. Do
NOT modify or misuse the respirator. |
 |
| 3. Do
NOT use the respirator with beards or other facial
hair that interferes with direct contact between the
face and the edge of the respirator, or any other
conditions that may prevent a good face-seal. “P” Series
respirators are replaced when the wearer senses an
increase in breathing resistance due to the filters
collecting particulate matter. Replace masks frequently. |
| |
|
PROTECTION |
 |
|
● |
P-series filters: effective against all
particulate aerosols. |
|
● |
Carbon layer: removes nuisance levels of
organic vapors (odor removal only). |
|
| |
|
Do NOT use: |
 |
|
● |
for protection against hazardous
concentrations of gases or vapors; |
|
● |
for sandblasting, paint-spray operations,
asbestos. |
|
| |
|
BIOLOGICAL PARTICLES: |
 |
| This
respirator can help reduce inhalation exposures to
certain airborne biological particles (e.g., mold,
Bacillus anthracis, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, etc.)
but it may not eliminate the risk of contracting
infection, illness or disease. OSHA and other government
agencies have not established safe exposure limits for
these contaminants. |
| |
|
DONNING and FITTING INSTRUCTIONS: |
 |
| Follow
these instructions each time respirator is worn. |
| |
|
1. Remove
respirator from package and “unfold”. |
 |
| 2. Hold
the respirator in the hand, allowing the head-straps to
hang loosely in front of the mask. |
 |
| 3.
Position the lower head strap around the neck below the
ears. Hold the respirator against the face and place the
top head-strap around the crown of the head. |
 |
| 4.
Adjust head straps by grasping the locking slide and
pull adjuster ring until respirator fits comfortably. |
 |
| 5. Fit
the nose area to the shape of the face by forming the
nose piece with the fingertips. Start from the top of
the nose piece working downward while pressing against
the nose. Always use both hands. |
| |
|
FIT-CHECK THE FACE-SEAL AS FOLLOWS: |
 |
|
● |
Place both hands over the respirator - do
not disturb the position of the respirator. |
|
● |
Exhale sharply to detect leakage. |
|
 |
 |
| |
|
WARNING: |
 |
|
● |
If you cannot achieve satisfactory fit, do
NOT enter the contaminated area. See your
Supervisor. |
|
● |
This respirator helps protect against
certain contaminants. It may not eliminate
the risk of contracting disease or
infection. Misuse may result in sickness or
death. |
